Hello.
There are many parts to the puzzle that comes together here at HeartSong Sanctuary. But at the center of our work is our Native Equestrian Experience. This is a sacred practice where the wisdom of the horse meets you exactly where you are. This practice is rooted in the Native American path of respect and relationship. This therapy invites people of all ages to step into a circle of trust where horse and human walk side by side. Our horses, trained by Miss Patty Young using practical, natural horsemanship principles offer their strength, gentleness, and intuitive presence to those who seek healing and transformation.
Every session begins with OUR CORE COMMITMENT TO SAFTY FIRST creating an environment where individuals can surrender fear, stand tall in confidence, and discover within themselves the leadership that horses so naturally call forth. Through this meeting of breath, movement, and intention, the horse becomes a mirror, reflecting the truth of who we are and uncovering the true courage we hold.
This work is designed as a living relationship that adapts to each person who arrives at our Sanctuary. Miss Patty has curated every aspect of this experience with care, shaping protocols that honor both the Spirit of the horse and the unique journey of each person that finds their way here. From the gentle grooming of a horse’s coat to the quiet moment of placing a hand on a steady flank, we learn that connection is not forced, but earned through respect, patience, and openness. As fear gives way to trust, and uncertainty softens into balance, people begin to embody the qualities that the horse demands of its herd: clear communication, grounded presence, and a fearless willingness to lead with open heart.
These lessons extend far beyond the barn, weaving themselves into your daily life, where folks find greater confidence, emotional steadiness, and the joy of authentic relationship.
The effectiveness of being with HeartSong horses exists in their extraordinary ability to draw us into the present moment. Their size, strength, and sensitivity require us to be centered, to move with intention, and to breathe with awareness. In this space, the mind quiets, the body relaxes, and the heart opens to a state of joyful being. The horse teaches us that true strength is born from softness, and that leadership is not control but partnership. Heart, Mind, Body, and Spirit are touched from this work together. Sometimes in big exciting ways, sometimes in the quiet, quantum exchange of energy. Each person’s journey is unique to their particular place on their life path.
This is the gift of Native Equestrian Therapy at HeartSong Sanctuary: a return to balance, a remembrance of our own courage, and a celebration of the timeless bond between horse and human. Each encounter leaves participants standing a little taller, speaking a little clearer, and moving through the world with the fearless grace that only comes from walking in harmony with these noble beings.
