HeartSong Is A Place For Healing
This is a place where rescued horses, sacred ceremony, music, and art come together to inspire healing, nurture connection, and help those seeking guidance.
Sacred Space
In Cedar Mountain, North Carolina, HeartSong Sanctuary is a peaceful place where people and animals heal together. Started by Charlene Boettcher and Miss Patty Young, the sanctuary grew from a simple dream of creating a safe haven for both humans and animals. Surrounded by the quiet beauty of the Dupont State Forest, it’s a spot where you can slow down, breathe deeply, and feel the calm that nature and horses naturally bring. From the very beginning, HeartSong has been a welcoming space for anyone looking for a deeper connection to the land, the animals, and themselves.
Charlene Boettcher is the Chief Operating Officer here at HeartSong. Always, at the ready with hugs and just the right words. Charlene is an ordained Minister as well as a corporate executive with Canyon Ranch. Her leadership and constant love is what makes HeartSong Sing.
Patty Young, a Medicine Woman and Artist, is at the heart of the sanctuary’s work. She’s spent years helping horses in the mountains of North and South Carolina recover from hard times and learn to trust again. With her determined presence and deep respect for the Spirit of each horse, Patty blends natural horsemanship with her own healing practices. Whether she’s guiding visitors through quiet moments of connection or working one-on-one with a horse, her gift is helping people see the courage, balance, and quiet wisdom that horses naturally share.
All of the horses at HeartSong have their own stories, many of them starting in situations that were far from kind. Rescued from neglect or tough circumstances, they’ve been given the chance to heal and thrive under Patty’s care and Charlene’s guidance. Over time, they’ve transformed into strong, trusting partners proof of how powerful love and patience can be. At HeartSong Sanctuary, these horses aren’t just survivors; they’re teachers and companions, reminding everyone who visits that healing and hope are always possible.
